New autographs since February

I took a complete break from sending letters for the last 7 months but a few weeks ago I started again, after receiving two new autographs, one of which may have been my longest wait: 5 years and 2 1/2 months to be exact. I wrote to Katie Leung (Cho Chang from Harry Potter) back in February 2012 – and got a reply from her 3 weeks ago.

For one of the new letters I sent I already got an answer. 9 days to the UK and back is damn quick! 🙂

These are the autographs I got since my last post:

Katie Leung – Cho Chang (HP)

(see full scan: Other movies –> HP)

Joanne Froggatt – Anna Bates (Downton Abbey)

(see full scan: Other TV shows)

Bella Ramsey – potentially a future ruler of Westeros, fierce as her character is. ;-D  = Lady Mormont (GoT)
She actually signed all three of my photos but they were badly smudged, this one being the neatest. She suspected that since apparently the ink didn’t dry, and wrote a note on the backside to resend photos if they were smudged, which I did this week.

(see full scan: Other TV shows –> GoT)

Conleth Hill – Lord Varys (GoT)

(see full scan: Other TV shows –> GoT)

+ i.p. at MagicCon: Lotte Verbeek, Zach McGowan, Emilie de Ravin, Keegan Connor Tracy, all of which I only got because I didn’t wanna waste the money I paid for the ticket. Maybe I’ll watch their shows one day and like them and be glad that I got their autographs. 😉 Haven’t scanned those yet. Also Louise Brealey. Already had her autograph, but I missed her photo session due to the orga’s constant switching of her schedule 😦 and I didn’t wanna waste this either. Plus I love her in Sherlock and she’s such a fierce woman, as I realized in her panel and the autographsession.  Haven’t scanned the autograph yet either but you find the autographs that I already had on the Sherlock page (Other TV shows –> Sherlock)

New autographs since June 2016

I realized that I haven’t posted for quite a while now. There are two reasons:

  1. The lack of responses didn’t motivate me much to continue writing letters, which of course lead to even less responses. And
  2. I’ve discovered a new hobby, cosplaying (you can see photos of my first cosplay and after MagicCon also the next cosplay here), and I use pretty much all my spare time to build my next cosplay, so that it will be ready for the MagicCon in April (and then probably the next cosplay, for the next MagicCon, and so on). It leaves me almost no time for this hobby. But maybe I can bring myself to write a few letters now and then.

Anyway, I got a couple of autographs since my last post.

Three I won’t post because they are badly smudged (another reason for not being very motivated) – Chris Pratt, Hugh Bonneville and Jim Carter), and one is probably a sec (Richard Madden). Here is the rest:

New autographs since my post in June: Kit Harington & Anton Yelchin

I got two new treasures in my collection, one thanks to the lovely Kesi, who met Kit Harington (Jon Snow/GoT) in person after his play “Doctor Faustus” and kindly got his autograph for me ❤ Thank you SO much!! 🙂

Kit Harington

And the other one was kind of a hurried purchase… I had been trying to get Anton Yelchin’s (Chekov/Star Trek ( & into Darkness)) autograph for a while and when I read the sad news that he had died, I bought his autograph – for a “decent” price, since the dealers apparently hadn’t caught up with the news yet – (let’s face it, the prices for his autograph will be insanely high now for quite a while). I’ll treasure this one and will go and watch the new movie with very mixed feelings – excited about the movie but very sad about the death of this talented young actor.

I added the full scans to the Star Trek and Game of Thrones page respectively; if you want to know the password, comment on this post or send me an e-mail to the address on the right)

Autographs since December: Jack Gleeson, Rose Leslie, Maria Howell, Sibel Kekilli

Regarding autographs this year has begun very slow for me. I haven’t had time to send out new letters either.  4 new autographs since my last post:

Jack Gleeson (Joffrey / Game of Thrones)

Thanks to Kathrin for getting his autograph for me at RingCon! 🙂

Daniel Sharman

I got a new autograph yesterday, from Daniel Sharman, who plays Kaleb/Kol in The Originals. The Originals is one of my favourite TV shows at the moment, but their cast members’ autographs seem to be hard to get, so I haven’t sent out many letters yet. I’m glad that I got this one back. Daniel wrote something on the back of one photo with a green pen and it rubbed off on the other photo. Eventually I’ll try to remove it. Til then I’m very happy that I got his autograph 🙂

Emilia Clarke & Julian Glover

I got two more autographs recently, both for my Game of Thrones collection:

Emilia Clarke, who plays one of my three favourite characters (or four, but one of them has already died, so…). Of course she’s Daenerys Targaryen; she was the first actor I wrote to specifically for this show. She didn’t sign the photos I sent her, but a presigned photo, but I’m very happy about it, since it’s a very beautiful picture (not like most photos actors use to send), in fact I even prefer it over the photos I sent to her. However, I’ll try to get a personalized autograph when she starts replying individually again.

Emilia Clarke

Julian Glover, who plays Grand Maester Pycelle, and Triopas in Troy. He signed and personalized all three photo I sent him. 🙂

I added the full scans to the Game of Thrones page (Other TV shows –> GoT) If you want to see the full scans, please e-mail me (fantasy-autographs@gmx.de) or comment on one of my posts and I’ll send you the password.

Ruby Bentall

Yesterday I got three autographs from Ruby Bentall, who plays the sweet Verity Poldark, one of my three favourite characters in the new BBC show Poldark (alongside Ross Poldark, Aidan Turner, and Demelza, Eleanor Tomlinson, whose autograph I got in August. I don’t know the books, so I have no idea what will happen next, I just hope Verity finally finds some happiness after constantly being oppressed by her brother and her father.

I’m very happy to add her autograph to my collection. 🙂

George Blagden & Scott Bakula

I got two more autographs today, one from the fabulous George Blagden, who plays Graintaire in the Les Miserables movie – and Athelstan in Vikings (which I just started watching, so I’ll have to write him again eventually). And the other one from Scott Bakula, Dwayne Pride in NCIS: NOLA, and of course Jonathan Archer in Star Trek: Enterprise – which I haven’t started watching yet but certainly will and I’ll probably want his autograph on a photo from ST too, so I sent two from NCIS and one from ST, and he kindly signed all of them 🙂

Sophie Turner & Iain Glen

I’m newly addicted to Game of Thrones. I knew it would absolutely be to my liking, but I also knew I would hate to wait for new seasons, so I decided not to watch it until the series ended. Well, I managed to steer clear of it for 5 years, but a few weeks ago I gave in (and watched the first four seasons within 1 1/2 weeks :D). Now I’m waiting for the fifth season to be released on Blu Ray and in the meantime I started collecting autographs of the GoT cast.

Since I knew that I’d like the show, I had the foresight to let two cast members also sign GoT photos, when I sent them photos for other roles: Harry Lloyd, to whom I wrote because of his role in Robin Hood, and Peter Dinklage. The latter is an especially curious case, because I sent him three photos, one for Narnia, one for X-Men where I love his performance, and one for GoT which I hadn’t watched at that point. I was a bit disappointed for obvious reasons when he only signed one – the GoT photo. Now, however, I’m pretty happy about this autograph, especially since Tyrion happens to be one of my four favourite characters.

And yesterday and today I got my first “official” GoT autographs (since the first two I got while I wasn’t even watching the show ;)) – Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, and Iain Glen, Jorah Mormont. I do hope that they’ll still be around after season 5. No spoilers please 😉

Both signed the 3 photos I sent them, and very quickly too, it took only 20 and 21 days respectively.

I added the full scans (and the ones from Harry Lloyd and Peter Dinklage) to the newly created Game of Thrones page (Other TV shows –> GoT). The password is the same as for the other pages, if you want to get access, please comment on this post of send me an e-mail 🙂

Autographs in September: Eddie Redmayne & Dallas Barnett

Since my last post I got two replies on the same day:

Eddie Redmayne

I just had to send to him again, since I had only sent photos from Les Mis the last time – while he was filming Jupiter Ascending – but I found the movie Jupiter Ascending and the Abrasax characters very interesting, so I wanted his autograph on photos from that movie, too. He replied very quickly, within 3 weeks. 🙂

Eddie Redmayne3 Eddie Redmayne4 Eddie Redmayne5

Dallas Barnett

He plays Bill Ferny Sr. in Hobbit: DoS, so a great addition to my LotR/Hobbit collection, especially since he added a cool inscription, and kindly answered the questionnaire I sent him. Btw.: he’ll be at HobbitCon 2016, and challenged Mark Atkin to a gummy bear eating contest. Seems like a fun guy! 🙂

I got a few autographs via mail since May, also I bought a few, and then there was a bunch of LotR autographs I purchased in December/January, which I never posted. So I’m just gonna post the signatures now. I uploaded everything on the respective pages.

autographs since June: Craig Robert Young, Joel Tobeck, Manu Bennett

Hasn’t been a very good time since June (only autograph-wise, though, otherwise it was), so I’m gonna post the few successes in one post. One autographs of the three I bought, so they don’t count really as successes.

Craig Robert Young Craig Robert Young2 Craig Robert Young3

Craig Robert Young: This was a surprise success, since I sent my letter in 2012 via the Hawaii Five-0 set but
since his role, Dracul Comescu, got killed after one episode, I didn’t think he’d get the letter. So I’m surprised, but very happy about this 🙂

Joel Tobeck Joel Tobeck2

Joel Tobeck: He played the orc Guritz, aka “Skully” in LotR. I decided to add to my LotR collection a few minor characters and since I “miss” the good old prosthetic LotR orcs in the Hobbit, he was on my list, too.

Manu Bennett

Manu Bennett: Speaking of prosthetic orcs and CGI orcs – I still don’t like the look of Azog and would have preferred him to be a prosthetic orc, but since there are even worse CGI orcs in the Hobbit (:-/) Azog is growing on me. Plus, he’s one of the main characters, so I needed to add him to my collection. Plus Manu Bennett did, of course, a great job; it’s not his fault that the orc looks aren’t as convincing as they were in LotR. So I’m very glad that I finally got his autograph, with the help of Andrea who got this autograph for me at RingCon this year.

Killian Donnelly

I sent a few letters to British actors while I was in London and got the first response today:

Killian Donnelly, who plays Courfeyrac in the 25th anniversary of Les Miserables (at Royal Albert Hall), and Combeferre in the Les Mis movie.

Killian Donnelly Killian Donnelly2

Thank you very much 🙂

Sarah Peirse

Yay, I got another Hobbit autograph: From Sarah Peirse, who had a small but noticeable role in Desolation of Smaug, named Hilda Blanca: the woman from Laketown who first sees the dwarves when they arrive and later gossips about them. 🙂 Mrs. Peirse kindly signed the photos I sent and answered the questionnaire 🙂

Sarah Peirse Sarah Peirse2 Sarah Peirse3 Sarah Peirse4

Thanks a lot Mrs. Peirse, and thank you Dani for posting the address!

Star Trek in concert

I was in London for a few days, for the Star Trek and Star Trek into Darkness concerts and there was a great surprise at the ST concert on Thursday: The first person to come onto the stage was Simon “Scotty” Pegg himself, who was beamed there by accident. 😉 He quickly brought onto stage Michael Giacchino, the composer – I didn’t expect that since someone else conducted the concert -, who then brought on no other than JJ Abrams!!

What a brilliant start! The concert was wonderful and gave me goosebumps several times. I hadn’t seen the movie for quite a while and hadn’t seen it on the big screen before (only got to see it when it was already available on DVD for some time, since I wasn’t really intrigued by Star Trek before). So it was a wonderful experience and the orchestra outdid itself.

After the show of course they received standing ovation and then Michael Giacchino came back onto the stage and conducted a wonderful piece of the score he did for the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. I guess I’ll get this soundtrack, even though I don’t know if I’m gonna see the movie in cinema.

During the intermission I had bought the booklet for ST and STiD in Concert, since I wanted to try to get at least Michael Giacchino’s autograph afterwards – in a situation like this my hunting instincts always kick in 😉 It took quite some waiting, but then JJ came out and signed for all who were still waiting (I guess it was almost an hour after the concert ended). Then Simon Pegg, who was extrordinarily friendly. He was so willing to sign everything and take photos with each and every person who had waited there for them. What a nice guy! And last but not least, Michael Giacchino. So I got two photos (with Simon and Michael), and four autographs, all on the booklet plus Micheal’s autograph also on the concert ticket. So it really was a great evening in every respect. 🙂

Star Trek in Concert Michael Giacchino

The concert on Friday was equally great. Michael is so down-to-earth, really nice. He signed my STiD ticket, too. I’m more than happy about how things turned out at these concert days 🙂

Michael Giacchino2

Since Michael had told us on Thursday, that Benedict Cumberbatch would have come to the STiD concert on Friday if he hadn’t had other obligations, I did a bit of research and found out that he was at the Hay Festival on Friday, but his “duties” there ended Saturday at noon, so I figured there was an (astronomical) chance he would attend the STiD concert on Saturday, so I went there just in case (not to the concert, but I spent the evening outside, drawing :D) Well, he didn’t show, but at least I got two more autographs from Michael for friends and fellow collectors, and an autograph from the maestro, Ludwig Wicki, for myself. So time wasn’t entirely wasted. 🙂

Ludwig Wicki

PS: Here‘s a nice report about the premiere on Thursday. 🙂
