New autographs since June 2016

I realized that I haven’t posted for quite a while now. There are two reasons:

  1. The lack of responses didn’t motivate me much to continue writing letters, which of course lead to even less responses. And
  2. I’ve discovered a new hobby, cosplaying (you can see photos of my first cosplay and after MagicCon also the next cosplay here), and I use pretty much all my spare time to build my next cosplay, so that it will be ready for the MagicCon in April (and then probably the next cosplay, for the next MagicCon, and so on). It leaves me almost no time for this hobby. But maybe I can bring myself to write a few letters now and then.

Anyway, I got a couple of autographs since my last post.

Three I won’t post because they are badly smudged (another reason for not being very motivated) – Chris Pratt, Hugh Bonneville and Jim Carter), and one is probably a sec (Richard Madden). Here is the rest:

Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran Stark / GoT)

Ed Asner & Billy Burke

I got two autographs (2×2) yesterday, from Ed Asner and Billy Burke.

Ed Asner had two very impressive episodes in Hawaii Five-0, reprising his character from the old H5O-series: August March. It was a brilliant move to bring him back, and that he managed to fool the team in both episodes, almost until the end. And even then, March chose his own way out instead of going to jail. Even though this was a great turn (for the plot and a great end for the character), I would have loved to see him more often!

Ed Asner2 Ed Asner

Billy Burke was one of the best cast choices in the Twilight series, but I really loved him in Revolution. His role Miles Matheson was far from being the typical good lead character; nothing was really black and white in this series, which is why I really enjoyed that show (even though I hated the insane AI part in the 2nd season. His bromance with/bitter hatred towards Monroe (yes, both actually, and at the same time!) was just terrific and their need to work with each other certainly made up for the crappy AI part. It’s a pity that the show got cancelled after the 2nd season.

autographs since June: Craig Robert Young, Joel Tobeck, Manu Bennett

Hasn’t been a very good time since June (only autograph-wise, though, otherwise it was), so I’m gonna post the few successes in one post. One autographs of the three I bought, so they don’t count really as successes.

Craig Robert Young Craig Robert Young2 Craig Robert Young3

Craig Robert Young: This was a surprise success, since I sent my letter in 2012 via the Hawaii Five-0 set but
since his role, Dracul Comescu, got killed after one episode, I didn’t think he’d get the letter. So I’m surprised, but very happy about this 🙂

Joel Tobeck Joel Tobeck2

Joel Tobeck: He played the orc Guritz, aka “Skully” in LotR. I decided to add to my LotR collection a few minor characters and since I “miss” the good old prosthetic LotR orcs in the Hobbit, he was on my list, too.

Manu Bennett

Manu Bennett: Speaking of prosthetic orcs and CGI orcs – I still don’t like the look of Azog and would have preferred him to be a prosthetic orc, but since there are even worse CGI orcs in the Hobbit (:-/) Azog is growing on me. Plus, he’s one of the main characters, so I needed to add him to my collection. Plus Manu Bennett did, of course, a great job; it’s not his fault that the orc looks aren’t as convincing as they were in LotR. So I’m very glad that I finally got his autograph, with the help of Andrea who got this autograph for me at RingCon this year.

Alex O’Loughlin

17.12.12 – 12.02.13

Alex O’Loughlin (Steve McGarrett / Hawaii Five-0)

This of course was a very nice success because it seemed to have broken my dryspell, hopefully for longer this time. And at least this week was more successful already. I’m very glad about his autograph. Already got his signature years ago on a Moonlight pic, the first series I saw him in – still think it’s a shame that they cancelled it! But of course H50 is a very nice series too. Although, I think if I had to choose, I’d prefer to get Moonlight back. But that’s not gonna happen, so I’ll be a loyal, or at the moment not so loyal viewer of Hawaii Five-0. 🙂

I didn’t get to scan the autographs yet, but will post them when I get to do it.

Grace Park

12.10.11 – 28.12.12

Grace Park (Kono Kalakaua / Hawaii Five-0)

Yet another autograph that took quite some time, though not as much as the last two. Although of the four investigators Kono is the one I like least, I still like her a lot, especially in her scenes where she can kick some bad guy’s asses, but also in the quieter scenes with Adam. They are such a cute couple – I sure hope their relationship doesn’t end in a catastrophe like her cousin’s.

I added the full scan to the Hawaii Five-0 page (Other TV shows -> H50)

Since this is – hopefully not, but very probably – the last autograph I get in 2012, I wish you all a Happy New Year!

Claire van der Boom

25.04.12 – 04.05.12

Claire van der Boom (Rachel Edwards / Hawaii Five-0)

Whilst the autograph from Nick Moran took quite some time, this one must be my fastest success from overseas. I think she’s adorable in H50 and I love her scenes with Danno and/or Grace. They have such a phantastic chemistry, I only wish she’d appear on the show more often.

I added the full scans to the H50 section (Other TV shows -> Hawaii Five-0).

Mackenzie Foy

22.02.12 – 16.03.12

Mackenzie Foy (Renesmee / Twilight & Lily Wilson / Hawaii Five-0)

2/2 photos signed and personalized

I usually don’t write to child actors, but I really enjoyed her performance in the Hawaii Five-0 episode Ho’apono where she played Lily, the daughter of a Navy Seal who holds a few tourists hostage after being accused of having murdered his wife – and in that situation Lily gets abducted. Mackenzie did a great job in that episode. And I also enjoyed her very short appearance in Breaking Dawn – I’m looking forward to her part in the second movie.

I added one full scan to the H50 section (Other TV shows -> Hawaii Five-0) and the other one to the Twilight section (Other movies -> Twilight).

Daniel Dae Kim

12.10.11 – 14.01.12

Daniel Dae Kim (Chin Ho Kelly / Hawaii Five-0)

Yes! So at least half of my letters to the main cast arrived before the address became invalid. I love Hawaii Five-0, it has indeed managed to snatch the 2nd place of my favourite shows from NCISLA (and it’s gnawing at NCIS too). I love the entire main team of season 1 – not so sure about Lori yet – so I’m very happy to be able to add his autograph to my collection.

I only hope that there will be another working address for the show soon, I need to write to Mark Dacascos again (got an RTS), before they kill off Wo Fat. ;D

Added the full scans to the H50 section (Other TV shows -> Hawaii Five-0).

Scott Caan

12.10.11 – 15.11.11

Scott Caan (Danny Williams / Hawaii Five-0)

3/3 photos signed, one of them personalized

*cheering* Finally, after more than 3 weeks without an autograph (ok, 2 weeks counting in the Elijah Wood autograph, but that doesn’t really count, since I bought it) I got a new one. And what a great one! Danny is absolutely my favourite of the Hawaii Five-0 team, I just love him! 😀 I totally squealed (in my mind, otherwise my father would have looked like that: ô.Ô) when I opened the letter. I had already seen the post mark from Hawaii, and I had reeeeeeally hoped that it would be Scott Caan’s autograph. *in love*

I just hope that my dry spell is indeed finally broken, I need good news while being in stress, writing my thesis. Today’s autograph was an excellent one.

I know it’s kind of a long shot to put up a new page, having only one cast autograph so far, but what the hell. So you can find the full scans here (Other TV shows -> Hawaii Five-0). Password’s the same as for the other pages.
